Description
Insurance Organisation in Birmingham would like to recruit a Software Developer to join their existing IT department.  This company is well respected in the Insurance market and has become a market leader in their specialist field.
 
With excellent communication skills you will be involved in both the design and development of their QUBE family of applications based around their claims management system with mobile applications and integration with external systems. While this is primarily a software development role, there will be an element of working with support to investigate application queries. 
 
Skills and experience required:
  • Microsoft  C#
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (and later) databases – using and configuration
  • Microsoft Office and its interaction with .NET
 
Beneficial:
  • Microsoft Reporting SSRS
  • Experience of XML in a commercial environment
  • Understanding of the various PC and Server Microsoft operating systems
  • Source Control
  • Application distribution and installation
  • Ability to investigate and resolve minor hardware problems
  • Entity Framework
  • Team Foundation Studio
  • DevExpress
  • Development of Android mobile technology with Xamarin and Visual Studio Android
  • Emulators
 
To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate a high level of technical, quality and service delivery, a commitment to innovation and a determination to provide a market leading service and product on behalf of their business.
 
It is essential you have software development experience and able to demonstrate a high level of technical ability.  You must be enthusiastic , pay attention to detail and use your own initiative to solve problems.  You should also be a team player, able to work accurately under pressure and adhere to deadlines.  The role is home based at present and is likely to involve flexible working going forward, so been able to commute to Birmingham City Centre will be essential.
 
Hours of work:  Standard working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday with occasional work outside these hours to perform system updates etc which cannot be done during the day.
