A leading supplier of consumer products to major national supermarkets and high street brands is looking to strengthen its technical team. The business operates across stationery, creative play and paper-based celebration products, with a strong focus on product safety, compliance, responsible sourcing and sustainability.
The Role
An exciting opportunity for an experienced QA Technologist or Assistant Technologist looking to progress their career within a fast-paced technical environment.
You will be responsible for ensuring products are safe, legal, compliant and responsibly sourced, working closely with Buying, Suppliers and internal teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing product technical files, specifications, test reports, declarations and Bills of Materials/Substances.
- Conducting risk assessments and briefing appropriate compliance testing.
- Reviewing and approving artwork and product labelling.
- Supporting supplier onboarding, product approval and due diligence processes.
- Providing technical support to Buying teams, including testing requirements and costs for new business.
- Supporting UKTR, EUDR, FSC, sustainability and packaging compliance.
- Reviewing MSDS, product specifications and other technical documentation.
- Supporting customer technical requests and maintaining departmental procedures.
The Person
We are looking for a proactive and resilient Technologist with experience in FMCG product compliance, ideally within consumer products.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working with major retailers or high street brands.
- Strong knowledge of product safety, risk assessment and compliance testing.
- Understanding of EN71, Toy Safety and GPSR.
- Knowledge of REACH/SVHC, electricals, timber regulations and packaging waste is advantageous.
- Familiarity with SMETA and BSCI audits.
- Excellent IT, organisational and project management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- A flexible, hands-on approach and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
