Role Overview
- We are seeking a high-calibre, commercially astute professional with proven experience in the flooring and estimating sector.
- The successful candidate will combine technical expertise with commercial awareness, delivering profitable solutions and supporting business growth.
- You will be responsible for specifying flooring systems, managing costs, protecting margins, and contributing to sales, estimating, and marketing initiatives.
- The role requires a dependable team player who is motivated to build a long-term career within our business.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Grow company sales from current turnover towards targeted growth over the next 2 years and maintain steady growth from there.
- Build and maintain relationships with main contractors, end-users, and facility maintenance companies to increase market share.
- Selectively target and secure profitable contracts aligned with company gross profit margin.
- Develop and maintain CRM system (M-Files) for recording sales activity and client interactions.
- Monitor, follow up, and respond to all incoming enquiries via email, post, telephone, and site visits.
- Negotiate effectively with customers, highlighting company strengths and avoiding unnecessary discounting.
- Conduct regular client reviews and follow-up visits to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
- Maintain up-to-date price lists, product matrices, and showroom sample areas.
- Prepare PQQs, H&S plans, and RAMS for new clients and projects as required.
Estimating
- Formulate accurate quotations and tenders by liaising with suppliers and negotiating discounts.
- Prioritise and organise quotation workflow, logging all activity, following up on feedback, and re-quoting where appropriate.
- Survey sites competently to ensure quotes reflect accurate scope, costs, and technical requirements.
- Analyse flooring plans and produce professional, technically sound quotations.
- Select contracts strategically, considering installer locations, client reliability, and business profitability.
Marketing & Brand Development
- Proactively promote the company on social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and through newsletters.
- Enter company for relevant industry recognition awards (e.g., Recofloor, CFA).
- Collect customer feedback on completed jobs to enhance service quality and brand reputation.
General & Leadership
- Lead by example, supporting colleagues and installers as required.
- Contribute to monthly reporting to the directors, providing insight into sales, margins, and business opportunities.
- Exhibit professionalism, flexibility, and a proactive, can-do attitude in all aspects of the role.
Key Attributes & Skills
- Proven experience in flooring sales, estimating, and business development.
- Extensive knowledge of all flooring types: timber, laminate, vinyl, linoleum, carpet, carpet tiles, and hygienic cladding.
- Strong understanding of subfloor assessment and preparation.
- Commercially aware with the ability to balance profitability and client satisfaction.
- Excellent people management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Highly organised, with the ability to multitask effectively across sales, estimating, and marketing functions.
- Able to work well under pressure and to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Organised, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ambitious and committed to building a long-term career within the business.
