About The Role:
We are looking to appoint the General Manager in – South Wales.
Being P&L accountable, it carries a breadth and depth of responsibility for leadership and for commercial and operational delivery across a full service, wholly owned business.
This is a true general management role, leading the following functions:
Sales
Buying
- Maintain visible leadership to ensure the health and safety of colleagues, customers and visitors, all compliance and all areas affected by the site’s operations are carried out in compliance with the relevant legislation and health and safety guidance.
- Deliver financial, operational and statutory annual performance of the business.
- Develop and deliver mid and long- term plans which are in line with, and support the achievement of, the group strategy.
- Lead, motivate and engage the management team to optimize financial performance whilst maintaining best in class operating standards.
- Coach and develop the management team – ensuring individuals are operating at the optimum level and are receiving regular feedback on their performance, and have clear development plans in place.
- As a leader of people, be visible, accessible and connected with the site teams to promote a culture which is transparent, supportive and stretching of individual and the team’s potential for the future.
- Develop, execute and embed plans for the business that will drive revenue and control operating expenditure to achieve financial expectations in line with the group strategy.
- Help develop buying and pricing policies and ensure each business within the area of accountability is following the guidelines and resolve any conflict between those businesses.
- Identify key customers for the business and invest time understanding their needs, proactively assess the level of service they are receiving against the service levels agreed.
- Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- The successful candidate will have management experience and be ready to take the next step in their career.
Key Skills/Experience Required:
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previously held a leadership role and be ready to take the next steps in their career.
- Experience within the flooring, commercial interiors, DIY or building products sector.
- A proven track record of working successfully within a sales environment previously.
- Successfully driven results through others.
- Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and at pace.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and curious nature.
- Good attention to detail.
- Good numeracy and written skills.
Additionally, it would be desirable for the successful candidate to have:- Previous experience of leading an external sales team.
- Buying experience.
- Good presentation skills.
- Performance management practices.
Remuneration:- Basic up to £115,000 + Good Bonus, Great Benefits, Quality Car.
